On Wednesday, September 28, 2016, India office of Forschungszentrum Jülich organized its 1st Alumni Get-Together event in New Delhi. It was a special evening because it was about coming home for our alumni where they had spent their memorable years. The office identified alumni with the aim of keeping lifetime contacts with them and it was wonderful to see our researchers after long time and helped us in fostering new ties as well. Colleagues from IEK-5, IEK-STE and International Relations had an opportunity to interact, maintain and also helped in building new contacts.
This get-together was a stepping stone of stronger relations and more exchanges. The purpose of the event was to meet former colleagues from the Forschungszentrum Jülich, to inform the alumnus on the thrust areas of the centre and to provide information about possible collaboration opportunities.
Our alumni are a great resource for us. They are bearers of German science and can convey the message of how it is good to be at Forschungszentrum Jülich to Indian fellow-citizens and how it helped them in their career, in other words, they are “ambassadors” of Research Centre Jülich in India.
All alumni of the Forschungszentrum Jülich who are in Delhi and nearby regions were invited to participate at this event for a successful and memorable meeting. Everyone appreciated the efforts by the India office in organizing the get-together for the first time. Everyone departed with the resolve to visit again and spread the message amongst all who could not visit this time.
