DFG India Office holds an Info-session at the Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences & Technology, Thiruvananthapuram

On the invitation of Prof. Dr. V. Kalliyana Krishnan, Dean and Head Department of Biomaterials Sciences & Technology, Biomedical Technology Wing, Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences & Technology, Thiruvananthapuram, German Research Foundation (DFG) India Office held an Info-session at their campus on 27 January 2016.

Representing DFG India Office Dr. Vaibhav Agarwal, Senior Scientific Officer and Ms. Poonam Suri, Senior Programme Officer visited the facility and interacted with the faculty and research scholars of the Institute. Mr. Neelakantan Nair O.S., Acting Head, Biomedical Technology Wing welcomed the representatives of DFG and introduced the Institute and its research focus. Dr. Agarwal hosted the information session targeted at young PhDs and Postdoctoral fellows and faculty members to familiarize them with the research landscape in Germany, various DFG funding programmes for Indo-German research collaboration and answered their queries related to pursuing research careers in Germany.

Thereafter, Ms. Suri provided them with an overview of the German House for Research and Innovation DWIH New Delhi consortium, its members as well as its ongoing and upcoming activities including the Info Sessions on ''Higher Education & Research Opportunities'' in Cochin & Trivandrum planned for February 2016. The information session was attended by about 30 highly motivated young researchers and faculty members from the Institute.
