The German Research Foundation - DFG India Office participated in the 12th ''Stuttgart meets Mumbai'' intercultural get-together and wine festival at Taj Lands End, Mumbai held on 22 & 23 January 2016. Organized annually by the Indian Honorary Consulate in Stuttgart & Lapp group, the festival serves as a meeting point for partners from politics, business, film & media, tourism, research and development and wine industries of India and Germany. This discussion forum encompasses topics that are relevant to the society in general with a strong potential for Indo-German cooperation. The focus area of this year's event was “Sustainable City Development” with emphasis on issues like Globality, Exchange and Partnerships.
This 12th edition of “Stuttgart meets Mumbai” festival was jointly inaugurated by Mr. Andreas Lapp (Honorary Consul of the Republic of India in Stuttgart), Mr. Martin Schairer (Mayor of City of Stuttgart), Mr. Walter Deffaa (Director General of DG REGIO of the European Commission), Mr. Michael Siebert (General Consul of the republic of Germany in Mumbai), Dr. Alexander P. Hansen (Director, DFG India Office), Mr. Ajoy Mehta (Municipal Commissioner of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation) and other dignitaries from India and Germany.
During the two-day event, DFG India office participated in the workshop organized by the German House for Research and Innovation - DWIH New Delhi titled ““Need of Sustainable Cities”. DFG was also represented at the Info-stand during the event to distribute information material and interact with interested scientists, researchers and students from various universities, research institutes and R&D organizations of Mumbai.
