The German Research Foundation (DFG) India Office as a consortium leader of the German Centre for Research and Innovation - DWIH New Delhi participated together with other members, in an Interactive-Session “Opportunities of Indo-German Academic and Research Co-operation” jointly organized by the Industrial Research and Consultancy Centre (IRCC), Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay (IITB), on 23rd January 2016.
Representing IITB, Dean, Academic Programme, Prof. Narayan Rangaraj together with Prof. A.V. Mahajan, Associate Dean; Academic Programme; Prof. Anil M Kulkarni, Associate Dean, R&D and other senior faculty from IITB welcomed the DWIH New Delhi delegation and apprised them on the education and research profile of IITB. Dr. Alexander P Hansen, Director DFG India Office introduced the members of the delegation and provided an overview about research opportunities available in Germany and the research funding grants DFG has to offer for bilateral cooperation.
Following the faculty interaction, a panel discussion was held for the students and young researchers on “Opportunities of Higher Education in Germany”, where DFG representatives responded to specific queries of students and young researchers on application procedures, research opportunities and elaborated on the fundamentals for pursuing research in Germany. The half day interactive session was attended by nearly 50 highly motivated students, young researchers and faculty members from IITB receiving ample first-hand information.
