On 18 March 2016, the German Research Foundation (DFG) India Office participated in an “Interactive-Session on Higher Education and Research in Germany” at the Shiv Nadar University (SNU), Greater Noida near Delhi. The interactive session that was jointly organized by the German House for Research and Innovation (DWIH) New Delhi and the SNU, witnessed a good participation from both DWIH New Delhi consortium members as well as students and faculty of the university.
Welcoming the DWIH New Delhi delegation, Vice Chancellor, Dr. Rupamanjari Ghosh, introduced the university as a multi-disciplinary and research-focused institution that offers courses in vast disciplines in humanities and social sciences, natural sciences, technology and engineering studies, communications and management. Thereafter, Dr. Vaibhav Agarwal, representing the DFG India office and DWIH New Delhi welcomed the audience and provided them with an overview of the DWIH. Dr Agarwal also hosted the information session targeted at young PhDs and Postdoctoral fellows and faculty members to familiarize them with the research landscape in Germany and various DFG funding programmes for Indo-German research collaborations. The information session concluded with the panel discussion where various queries of students and young researchers related to pursuing research careers in Germany were addressed. Nearly 150 highly motivated students and faculty of Shiv Nadar University attended the event.
