The German House for Research and Innovation (DWIH), New Delhi concluded its first successful Indo-German institutional networking forum in Hyderabad on 23 February 2017. The event was organised with an aim to provide an opportunity for Indian institutes to forge academic and scientific cooperation with their German counterparts by engaging in discussions around areas of common interests. Attended by the representatives of various reputed Indian institutes such as BITS Pilani, IIT Guwahati, KL University, KLE College of Engineering and Confederation of India amongst many others, the forum commenced with a special welcome speech by DWIH Chairwomen Mrs. Heike Mock and a presentation on the German Research Landscape by Ms. Aditi Gosavi, Media and Public Relations - DAAD, New Delhi.
Over prolonged interactive sessions, representatives of the participating German universities and research institutes addressed queries of the Indian institutes and assisted them with relevant information. These questions ranged from those pertaining to academic issues such as institutional collaboration over dual degree courses and student exchange programs, short term training/internship programs, language requirement for higher studies, finding a guide for PhD studies to more general inquiries on visa, funding options, scholarships, job aspects in Germany etc.
Hosting one-on-one interactions at their individual stalls, the German participants included Bavarian Universities, Heidelberg University, Forschungszentrum Jülich, Universität Kaiserslautern, Leipzig University, Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg, Technical University of Munich, Saarland University, Fachverband Deutsch als Fremdsprache and German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). While, this event catered to many registered guests, an impressive turnaround of unregistered visitors showing keen interests in finding new avenues of cooperation made this event a real success.
