The German Research Foundation – DFG India office organized an informative session for faculty members and young researchers of Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi on 16 June 2016. The meeting was organized in the follow-up to the one day “Wurzburg University- JNU Workshop on Infection Biology” held in October 2015 to apprise faculty members and research scholars about DFG funding programmes for bilateral Indo-German research collaborations.
On behalf of JNU, Prof. Satish Chandra Garkoti, Rector-II together with Dr. Ravi Tandon, Dr. Ranjana Arya from School of Biotechnology, JNU and other senior faculty members welcomed the DFG India team and provided an insight into the education and research scenario of JNU. This meeting was also an opportunity to introduce Dr. Jörg Schneider, Head International Affairs, DFG Bonn, who has taken over as the Officiating Director, DFG India office from 1 June 2016 onwards. Dr. Schneider welcomed the faculty members and provided them with an overview of the activities and programmes of the DFG. Dr. Vaibhav Agarwal, Senior Scientific Officer, DFG India office gave a presentation and interacted with young researchers and faculty members about DFG funding programmes at difference levels. Nearly 25 motivated young researchers and faculty members from various departments and schools of JNU attended the information session.
