Led by Mr. Frithjof Maennel – Head of the Directorate for International Cooperation, a delegation from the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) in Germany visited New Delhi in mid-April 2018. Guided by the main agenda of the Indo-German Working Group on Higher Education meeting the Ministry of Human Resources and Development (MHRD), the discussions at this event primarily revolved around the topic of Indo-German cooperation in the field of education.
Furthering their agenda, the delegation also met the German Centre for Research and Innovation (DWIH New Delhi) and its supporters at the German House on 18th April to understand the role of DWIH New Delhi in India, besides getting an insight into its scope of work and other challenges. Apart from this, interesting and in-depth discussions on the activities of DWIH New Delhi and feedback on bilateral programs for accelerating student and research exchange also made a part of this round-table gathering.
Following this meeting, a high-tea reception was hosted by DWIH New Delhi in honour of Mr. Frithjof Maennel and his entire delegation and was attended by representatives of several partner education and research institutes in the city. The evening also marked a special occasion for DWIH New Delhi as the announcement of the organisation’s new identity as German Centre for Research and Innovation replacing the old German House for Research and Innovation came from its Director Heike Mock.
