Union Minister of Petroleum & Natural Gas and Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Dharmendra Pradhan inaugurates Skill Connect Road Shows in New Delhi.

Engaging industry to redress both sides of the skills mismatch coin: relevance and quality of training; National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) in collaboration with Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) has launched Skill Connect Road Show -- a programme to drive awareness and participation towards the Skill India agenda; with a special focus on apprenticeship.

Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH on behalf of the German Development Cooperation participated in the World Environment Day (WED) 2018 from 2-5 June 2018 in New Delhi. This year India was the host country and the theme was Beat Plastic Pollution.

As part of the WED 2018 events, GIZ partnered with the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC), Government of India  for high level policy dialogues and conferences on the theme on ‘Sustainable Lifestyles: Resource Efficiency and Circular Economy’ and ‘Extended Producer Responsibility’ at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi. In addition to this GIZ was also involved in supporting the Ministry in the conceptualisation and designing of a publication on ‘Creating Awareness for Plastic Waste’.      

Indo-German Working Group on Quality Infrastructure organised Industry Interaction on “Protecting Data through Standards and Certification” on the eve of the implementation of the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in Mumbai.

Recent data breaches have focused the attention of governments, citizens, and companies alike on the same question: How can data be effectively protected? On the eve of the implementation of the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), around 30 German and Indian experts from industry and government met in Mumbai to discuss how standards and certification can enhance IT security and data protection.

The German Centre for Research and Innovation (DWIH), New Delhi, organised the third and final station of its “Excellence on Tour!” (EoT) program from 22nd – 28th March 2014 in Kolkata at Science City. The EoT provided a platform for all interested students and scientists from Kolkata and neighboring regions to interact with representatives and scientists from various German higher-education institutes, universities and research-organizations. Max-Planck-Gesellschaft (MPG) along with the other consortium members of DWIH, New Delhi participated in EoT, Kolkata with great enthusiasm. The EoT pavilion was visited by more than 10,000 visitors and the event as a whole was well received by the public, press and media. Prof. Dr. Laurent Gizon, Director, Max Planck Institute (MPI) for Solar System Research, Göttingen, Germany was invited to deliver one of the key-note speeches along with other dignitaries during the inauguration ceremony on 22nd of March 2014.

It is with great pleasure to announce that the University of Cologne- India Branch office has shifted to new office premises at the German Centre, 2 Nyaya Marg, Chankyapuri, New Delhi- 110021, w.e.f. 1st January 2016. UoC India office now shares its office with the other DWIH consortium members.

Following the successful first Indo-German Start-up Bootcamp conducted in July 2016 in Berlin, GIZ together with their partners Bosch, World Resources Institute (WRI), Social Impact Lab, IIM Calcutta Innovation Park and Intellecap are geared to conduct the second Indo-German Start-up Bootcamp which will take place in India and will bring together entrepreneurs from India and Germany to explore cooperation and grow their social impact.

The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), Government of India and Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH India on behalf of the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany signed an agreement on technical cooperation under the “Indo-German Energy Programme – Green Energy Corridors (IGEN-GEC)” on 28.08.2017 in New Delhi. The main objective of this programme component is to improve the sector framework and conditions for grid integration of renewable energy in India. 

In the distinguished presence of Mr Piyush Goyal, Minister of State (IC) for Power, Coal, New & Renewable Energy and Mines, Government of India and Dr. Martin Ney, the German Ambassador to India, the agreement was signed at the Shram Shakti Bhawan, Ministry of Power, New Delhi by Dr Wolfgang Hannig, Country Director, Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH India and Mr A.N. Sharan, Joint Secretary, Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE).
