Starting Grant of European Research Council (ERC) awarded to Max Planck Scientists - Dr. Gurumoorthy Krishnamoorthy and Dr. Ilona Grunwald Kadow, Max Planck Institute of Neurobiology, Martinsried

The European Research Council received over 3000 applications from 38 nations for the last call of which 10% were successful. Out of the 70 recipients of this prestigious grant in Germany this year, two are Max Planck Scientists - Dr. Gurumoorthy Krishnamoorthy and Dr. Ilona Grunwald Kadow, both from Max Planck Institute of Neurobiology, Martinsried.

Dr. Krishnamoorthy's lab will investigate the role of  gut micro-organisms in autoimmune disease of the central nervous system such as Multiple Sclerosis

Dr. Kadow will explore how the internal states hunger, mating state and sickness change the perception and processing of sensory information
