An innovative offshoot of the development partnership programme (DPP) between GIZ and Nokia India Sales Private Limited, a subsidiary of Microsoft Mobile Oy, is a music album - WIRES, created by the "Create to Inspire" fellows. The album includes songs based on the selected themes of water, waste, e-waste, energy and transport. To appreciate the effort and enthusiasm of these fellows, a felicitation event was organised on the 8th December 2014 in Kolkata, where the music album was launched. A street play, theatre performance, singing, dancing and film screenings also formed part of the event.
The programme seeks to improve the collection and recycling of electronic waste (e-waste) from mobile phones and accessories in a more efficient and sustainable way in selected target cities of India, enhancing the consumption behavior of students and youth and improving the working conditions for informal waste collectors.
Around 48 young fellows in the age group of 18 – 25 years were selected during the beginning of 2014 as part of the "Create to Inspire" programme fellowship. They were mentored by experts in the fields of creativity and sustainability to enable them to develop creative and inspiring campaigns on the selected themes.
This DPP programme is being implemented by GIZ on behalf of BMZ.
