As the world population increases and adopt lifestyles that are more energy intensive, different sectors such as industries, transport, agriculture, and residential also expand to meet their increasing demands. The pressure of this expansion falls on the energy sector which is primarily based on the limited stock of fossil fuels. The need to shift towards cleaner and renewable sources of energy all across the world has been recognized by many nations. This must be supported by research and innovation for tapping renewables and also to develop alternate technologies for efficient utilization of energy. This realization came early in Germany, as they make road maps to exploit a variety of renewable energy sources to meet the energy demands of the nation.
