The 3rd Indo-German workshop on the “Advances in Materials, Reactions & Separation Processes” will be jointly organized by the Department of Chemical Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati, India and the Max Planck Institute for Dynamics of Complex Technical Systems, Magdeburg, Germany, during February 23 – 26, 2016 at IIT Guwahati, India. This is the 3rd edition of the event. The 1st workshop was held at IIT Madras from 18 – 20 February, 2008 and the 2nd workshop was held at Bad Herrenalb, Germany from 20 – 22 February, 2012.

International Max Planck Research School for Global Biogeochemical Cycles
The IMPRS-gBGC located in Jena, Germany, offers contracts to outstanding
students interested in research on biogeochemical cycles in the Earth system.
The school provides excellent research possibilities for students to obtain a
PhD degree in a 3-years graduate program.
 

The International Max Planck Research School on Earth System Modelling (IMPRS-ESM), located in Hamburg, Germany, offers fellowships to outstanding students interested in interdisciplinary climate research. Our doctoral candidates contribute to the understanding of the Earth system through the application, evaluation and development of a spectrum of Earth system models at different levels of complexity and at various spatial and temporal scales. Emphasizing the physical system, the School encompasses the broader field of Earth sciences, including economics and social sciences. The IMPRS-ESM strives to attract a diversity of talented women and men from all nationalities to research in the Earth system sciences.

The German House for Research and Innovation - DWIH New Delhi organised “DWIH Horizon:  Art Meets Science” exhibition in Kolkata from 10th to 15th March, 2015. The weeklong event included a Higher Education and Research Fair (10th & 11th March) as well as a Photo Exhibition (10th to 15th March) displaying a cultural highlight combined with ample first-hand information on research and innovation in Germany.

Max-Planck-Gesellschaft (MPG) held its 5th Bi-Annual India Heads of Partner Group Meeting at IIT-Madras on 12th - 13th March 2015. The inauguration ceremony held on 12th afternoon at the IC and SR auditorium of IIT Madras was graced by Prof. Ramamurthi, Director, IIT-Madras; Mr. Achim Fabig, German Consul General in Chennai; Mr. Felix Kahle, Head of International Relations, MPG, Administrative Headquarters, Munich and Dr. Arabinda Mitra, Adviser and Head, International Cooperation (Bilateral), Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of India. Prof. Dr. Laurent Gizon, Director, Max Planck Institute for Solar System Research, Göttingen, Germany delivered a public lecture – Seismology of the Sun and Stars – at the opening ceremony which was attended by more than 300 students and faculty of IIT-Madras. The second lecture at the opening ceremony was delivered by Dr.

The German House for Research and Innovation (Deutsches Wissenschafts- und InnovationsHaus – DWIH New Delhi) organised the DWIH Horizon:  Art Meets Science exhibition at Alliance Française Pondichéry from 21st to 26th February. The weeklong event included a Higher Education and Research Fair (21st & 22nd February) as well as a Photo Exhibition (21st – 26th February) to capture the essence of Art and Science under one roof.
